Keep your instrument in service
Learn how to handle your MK-dent products correctly for maximum performance and service life. Proper care and regular maintenance keep your transfer instruments reliable, hygienic and functional over the long term.
Reliable performance. For the long term.
Standards-compliant drill bits
Use only certified, standards-compliant drill bits suitable for your instrument. Precision-made shanks ensure a secure grip and smooth rotation – for reliable results and less wear.
Limescale-free supply lines
Limescale-free supply lines ensure an even flow of water and air. Regular checks and care prevent deposits and protect the instrument – for consistent performance and trouble-free operation.
Safe handling
Careful handling protects precision components from avoidable damage. Avoid drops and hard impacts during use, cleaning and storage – for lasting precision, smooth running and reliable operation.
Original spare parts
Original spare parts are precisely matched to your MK-dent instrument. Their precise fit ensures every component works optimally with the others – for reliable operation, consistent performance and a long service life.
Regular care
Lubricate and care for your instruments after each use. Thorough care reduces friction, keeps moving components running smoothly and supports lasting, reliable performance. Ball bearings in particular depend on lubrication.
Validated reprocessing
Validated reprocessing procedures ensure hygienically safe, reproducible cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. Consistently following the manufacturer’s instructions protects sensitive components – for reliable operation and lasting value.
Safely reprocessed. Ready for the next use.
Proper reprocessing is essential to using your MK-dent instruments safely and hygienically. It reduces the risk of cross-contamination and helps preserve function and service life over the long term.
The overview below shows the key reprocessing steps based on our instructions provided in accordance with ISO 17664-1. Use it as a quick guide. It does not replace the instructions for use for your instrument. The procedures, parameters and information specified there always take precedence.
Pre-treatment and preparation
Immediately after treatment, flush the internal channels of the instrument for 20 seconds while it is still connected to the treatment unit. Remove the rotating instrument, disconnect the transfer instrument from the drive and remove any detachable components.
Then remove coarse contamination and rinse the instrument with water below 35 °C. Transport all items safely and in a dry condition in a closed container to the reprocessing area.
Manual pre-cleaning
Carefully clean the collet using the designated tools and remove any deposits. Then check the spray channels for contamination and possible blockages. Carefully clean each channel with the designated nozzle pin to ensure an unobstructed spray flow.
Cleaning, disinfection and drying
After manual pre-cleaning, reprocess the instrument manually or automatically in accordance with the product-specific instructions for use. MK-dent recommends automatic cleaning and thermal disinfection.
Check for residual moisture, residues and visible contamination. If necessary, finish drying the instrument with a lint-free cloth or medical compressed air. Repeat cleaning and disinfection if visible contamination remains.
Care
Lubricate the transfer instrument with MK-dent Premium Service Oil LU1011 after each reprocessing cycle and before each sterilization. Lubricate the collet and drive using the designated adapters in accordance with the product-specific instructions for use.
Packaging
Use a suitable, validated sterilization packaging system in accordance with EN ISO 11607-1. Package each instrument individually in a sufficiently large sterilization pouch. Carefully heat-seal the pouch and check the seal for leaks.
Steam sterilization
Sterilize the packaged instrument in a suitable steam sterilizer using a fractioned pre-vacuum process. Only use the sterilization parameters approved in the product-specific instructions for use and follow the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions for loading and operation.
Remove the instrument from the sterilizer immediately after the sterilization cycle has finished.
Inspection and storage
Allow the instrument to cool after sterilization. Check that the packaging is intact and completely dry. Store the reprocessed instrument in a dry place, protected from dust and as free from germs as possible, under the environmental conditions specified in the product-specific instructions for use.
FAQ - Care and handling
