Repair. Down to the last detail.
Every MK-dent factory repair follows a clearly defined, documented process. From incoming inspection through complete disassembly and repair to final release, we inspect your instrument carefully and repair it expertly.
Reprocessing
We first clean, disinfect and sterilize each transfer instrument on arrival, following established procedures. Qualified staff oversee the entire process to prepare it for the technical work that follows.
Fault diagnosis
Our service technicians then perform a comprehensive incoming inspection. Alongside visual and functional checks, they use calibrated test equipment to verify the instrument’s relevant technical parameters. These include spray water flow rate, chuck holding force in newtons and light transmission. Results are documented in an inspection report.
Cost estimate
If the repair is not covered by our warranty terms or additional work is required, you will receive a cost estimate before the repair begins. We carry out the work only with your approval.
Complete disassembly
We expertly disassemble the instrument into its individual components and assemblies for repair. Depending on the model and design, this can involve carefully removing up to 50 individual parts and then inspecting them separately.
Component cleaning
We thoroughly clean each component after disassembly, removing contamination, corrosion residue and limescale – for example, from air and water lines. This lets us clean and assess areas that cannot be reached when the instrument is assembled.
Repair
Our service technicians assess each component and replace worn or damaged parts where needed. Documented intermediate inspections at each step verify how the components work together throughout the repair.
Care
We expertly lubricate all relevant functional parts with suitable synthetic service oils. These reduce friction and help protect moving components from premature wear.
Proper daily care is essential to your instrument’s long-term function. Our care instructions show you what matters.
Final inspection and release
After repair, each instrument undergoes a documented outgoing inspection. We recheck the relevant functions and technical parameters against defined acceptance criteria. Only when all required checks are completed successfully do we release the instrument for return shipping.
Return shipping
Once released, your instrument is securely packaged and sealed. We return it to you with the signed inspection report.
Spare parts warranty
Components replaced during a factory repair receive the corresponding MK-dent spare parts warranty. The warranty period depends on the component replaced. See our warranty overview for details.
FAQ - Factory repair
Submit your repair request or warranty claim using our online form. Have your practice and contact details ready, along with the instrument's item and serial numbers and as precise a fault description as possible. For a warranty claim, we also need a copy of the proof of purchase or delivery note.
After submitting the form, you will receive an order confirmation with your reference number and further shipping information.
Before shipping, fully reprocess and sterilize the instrument in accordance with the applicable hygiene requirements and instructions for use. Then place it in sealed sterile packaging and enclose the completed decontamination certificate.
A decontamination certificate alone is not sufficient. Do not send in medical devices that have not been reprocessed or are contaminated.
At present, allow at least five working days for processing once we receive your instrument. The actual time depends on the instrument, the nature of the fault and the scope of the repair.
Depending on the model and design, we may completely disassemble the instrument into up to 50 individual components and assemblies. We clean and inspect each one, then repair or replace it as needed. Professional assembly, documented intermediate inspections and the final outgoing inspection follow.
If additional work or a cost estimate is required, repair begins only after your approval. This may extend the overall time required.
On receipt, we assign the instrument to your service order and perform a technical incoming inspection. Our service technicians document its condition, check the relevant functions and identify the cause of the defect.
We then determine the necessary scope of the repair. Depending on the findings, you will receive a cost estimate or we will repair the instrument under the agreed service or warranty.
If the repair is not covered by our warranty terms or an agreed service, you will receive a cost estimate before any additional work begins. We carry out the work only with your approval.
Each instrument undergoes a technical incoming inspection, documented checks during repair and a final outgoing inspection. Depending on the instrument, we check holding force, rotational speed, operating noise, heat generation, air and water flow, spray performance, leak tightness and light transmission, among other parameters.
We release the instrument for return shipping only when all required checks are completed successfully and the defined acceptance criteria are met.
Enclose a copy of the invoice or delivery note with your instrument. We use the purchase date, model and serial number to check the warranty period and possible coverage.
You receive a twelve-month warranty on labor and most spare parts installed during a factory repair. Different warranty periods and conditions may apply to individual components. See our warranty overview for service and spare parts for the applicable details.
Regular emails keep you informed of your instrument's progress through the service process. For questions about an existing order, please include your reference number.
Please let us know if the instrument has previously been opened, modified or repaired by a business not authorized by MK-dent. During the incoming inspection, our service technicians will determine whether a factory repair is still possible and, if so, to what extent.
Interventions or modifications by unauthorized third parties invalidate claims under the MK-dent manufacturer's warranty. Statutory warranty claims do not apply to defects or damage caused by the third-party intervention or its consequences. Statutory rights relating to unrelated defects remain unaffected.
